NQC 2003 LiveAs the 2013 National Quartet Convention is about to get under way, the Jubilee turns the clock back 10 years … to spend one-hour-and-a-quarter in Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky, listening to the best of the best from 2003 and the performances at that year’s NQC. You’ll hear from 19 different groups, including the one and only George Younce, with Signature Sound helping out, singing “Supper Time.” Do you remember Gold City’s “That Little Baby?” You’ll hear it during this broadcast!

Freemans, In a Blaze of GloryLeading off on this Labor Day weekend, the Jubilee presents a Freemans concert from 1995 … it’s titled In A Blaze of Glory and was recorded in Columbus, Ohio.

Then, the Jubilee offers an encore of a concert that took place in Warner Robbins, Georgia … the year is 19-76 and it’s been declared A Nite of Inspirations … as the one and only Inspirations take to the stage. Would you believe, this group had already been singing more than a decade at this point … and are still on the road today?

NGQC 1963With the National Quartet Convention of 2013 just ahead … the Jubilee for the weekend of August 24th leads off with a very rare recording from 50 years ago … which may well be the first-ever recording released of performances on the stage of the National Gospel Quartet Convention. The location was Memphis, the year was 1963 and during this 40-minute recording you’ll hear the Blackwood Brothers, the Stamps, the Statesmen, the Kingsmen, the Speers and the Oak Ridge Quartet.

Then … it’s the Singing Americans and their great concert that took place on September 1, 1974 in the Landis Baptist Church in Landis, North Carolina. This is their Wanted Live performance.

Wilburns Alabama LightningOn the weekend of August 17th … picking up where the Jubilee left off last week, the Chuck Wagon Gang returns to let you hear the balance of that concert recorded in the Pigeon Forge Convention Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, during the Summer of 2008.

Then, it’s an encore of the much-acclaimed Wilburns performance which took place at the Civic Center in Bessemer, Alabama, on July 21st, 1990 … yes, it’s the one titled Alabama Lightning.

Leading off on the weekend of August 10th … with the National Quartet Convention of 2013 barely a month away, the Jubilee offers a review of what took place on the same stage seven years ago. Yes, it’s back to the stage in Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky, where the year is 2006 and you’ll hear from 14 groups of the groups who were featured during that week.

Then, to round out the evening, another group with a long history takes to the stage … the Chuck Wagon Gang. You’ll hear the first part of a concert recorded in the Pigeon Forge Convention Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, during the Summer of 2008.
