The Jubilee leads off on this weekend of July 14th with the second half of that recently-recorded performance by the Kellys titled Live & Large. The group is one that you don’t hear a whole lot about, but they are a first-class Southern Gospel quartet and are based in Southern Gospel’s birthplace, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.
Then, with another edition of the National Quartet Convention in Louisville just over two months away … the Jubilee turns the clock back a full decade to 2002. You’ll want to be listening to see which groups are still on the “A” list, as well as those who are still the same, how their sound has changed over the years, if any.
If you’d like more information about the 2012 Quartet Convention, you can go to their website … www.nqconline.com . . . or call 1-800-846-8499.

On the weekend of July 7th … the Jubilee leads off with a concert by the Freemans. It’s titled Soul Shakin’ LIVE and was recorded on November 5, 2005 in Christ Church, Brownsville, Tennessee. Five of the six members of the group at this time was a Freeman, with the exception of Jeremy Medkiff playing lead guitar.

On this weekend of June 30th … the Jubilee leads off with a group that made quite a splash when they arrived on the Gospel music scene in 1990 … but was gone by the end of the decade. Of course, the group is Perfect Heart. From 1994, this is a performance recorded at the Forum in Jonesboro, Arkansas … simply titled Live at the Forum. At this time, the group was made up of Danny Funderburk, Dale Shipley, Mark Lanier, Mike Presnell, and Jeff Stice.
On the weekend of June 23rd … the spotlight is shown on not only the artists and the songs, but the writers of those songs as well. Several years ago, Phil Cross began a series of presentations named Song of a Lifetime. The Jubilee this weekend brings you the one that took place at the National Quartet Convention in September 2010 and features songs by such writers as Colbert Croft, Jim Brady, Joel Hemphill and McCray Dove.
Wow … the Jubilee lineup is action-packed once again on this weekend of June 16th … as the clock is turned back to July of 1990 for you to hear 48 minutes from the group known at the time as Little Thunder . . . yes, they are the Perrys, in a concert recorded in the Bessemer Civic Center in Bessemer, Alabama, and titled Live in Alabama.
