His signature silky bass tones are unmistakable! On this weekend of August 11th, the Jubilee presents an encore of A Musical Biography, the musical tribute to the beloved career and talents of J.D. Sumner, which was produced and narrated by Donnie Sumner and features rare recordings of J. D. This week you’ll hear the first half of this superb documentary about one of Southern Gospel’s greatest artists, with the balance to be presented on the weekend of the 18th
The year is 2002 … the location is the First Baptist Church of Atlanta, Georgia, where one of Southern Gospel’s favorite trios is ready to sing. Yes, it’s Gerald, Rodney and Jason … Greater Vision!
To finish up the evening, you’ll step back another six years to 1996. The location is the Civic Center in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where Carroll McGruder and the McGruders are ready to sing . . . as heard on their Plugged In Live CD. This evening the Jubilee presents the first half of this Spirit-filled concert, with the balance of the performance to be heard a few weeks down the road.
On this last weekend in July … it’s an evening devoted entirely to the Collingsworth Family . . . all six members of the multi-talented family … in a performance recorded on a grand evening in 2008 at the historic Music Hall theater in Cincinnati. We’ve already purchased “your ticket to the Music Hall,” so all you need to do on this Summer’s evening is to have a cool drink in hand, be seated in your easy chair and have your radio tuned to enLighten.
And, if you love the Collingsworths … don’t be late for this Jubilee broadcast, as there’s a special added segment to be included that you may not have heard before!
On the weekend of July 21st … the Jubilee offers an encore of an enLighten exclusive, a Triumphant Quartet church concert from 2008 that was captured by our own microphones in a small church, the Layhill Community Church, in the Nation’s Capital suburb of Silver Spring, Maryland.
What makes this special is that it was not a performance staged more for cameras and microphones than those present in the hall the focus here was totally on those sitting in the seats in the sanctuary, the microphones were simply eaves dropping to capture what took place during the evening. If you haven’t heard this 75-minute concert, be sure to be on hand.
