For the weekend of November 5th, Paul presents a very special edition…

Celebrating Squire Parsons’ Songs

A Living Legacy—The Songs Of Squire Parsons

A Living Legacy—The Songs Of Squire Parsons

For more than three decades, Squire Parsons has been one of the most beloved singers and songwriters in Southern Gospel music. His outstanding songs, notably Sweet Beulah Land, Look For Me At Jesus’ Feet, and many others, are indispensible to the rich tapestry of what we call Southern Gospel music. Now, friends of Squire and his songwriting have compiled an 18-song collection of songs written by Squire Parsons and recorded by many of today’s top artists — including eight newly-recorded songs, some of which involve singers from multiple groups singing together.

The new CD is entitled A Living Legacy—The Songs Of Squire Parsons. We’ll visit with the project’s architect, Jim Brady (of the Booth Brothers), find out why he did it, why he didn’t tell Squire until it was almost completed, and Squire’s reaction to it all. You’ll also find out why the project was donated to Squire as a fundraiser for his medical expenses.

Others with whom Paul visits (some of those who are also part of this special tribute CD) include Mark Trammell, Karen Peck, Arthur Rice, Tim Riley, Ronnie Booth, Brian Free and Jeff Whisnant.

In addition, Paul visits with Squire himself for a few songs from his own new recording that he did with his son,Samuel, called Father And Son.

Among them will be Scott Fowler (Legacy Five), Connie Fortner (McKameys), Jim Brady (Booth Brothers), Tami Crist Starkel (Crist Family), Karen Peck Gooch (Karen Peck & New River), Mark Trammell (Mark Trammell Quartet), Harold Reed (Kingsmen), Mike Bowling (Bowlings), Anthony Facello (Beyond The Ashes), Matthew Browder (Browders).

11th HourTribute Quartet, The Waiting Is OverPaul’s Featured Artists on this program for the weekend of October 22nd is the Tribute Quartet with songs from their new CD entitled The Waiting is Over. You’ll hear our visit with Gary Casto, Josh Singletary, Anthony Davis and Riley Harrison Clark. You’ll learn about the “chance” encounter that brought them their current radio single. Riley will tell you about his favorite song, which is also a prayer.

You’ll also hear from Ernie Haase (who’ll have a brand new song from a CD that won’t be out until February); Ronnie Booth (with an unforgettable story about why they sing); Dianne Wilkinson and Michael Booth (both of whom share thoughts about pastors for Pastor Appreciation Month).

Finally … Paul will have an Artist Spotlight visit with 11th Hour, a relatively new trio with an interesting sound (“a little Martins, a little Nelons, a little Hinsons”). You’ll hear three of their latest songs (all written by a group member), including their current radio song, Adam’s Fall.

Dianne WilkinsonOn the program for the weekend of October 15th … during the first hour, Paul’s special guest is one of Southern Gospel music’s most prolific and sought-after songwriters, Dianne Wilkinson. She’ll share with you the stories behind some of her best-known current songs, sung by many of today’s top artists — groups such as the Triumphant Quartet, Legacy Five, the Whisnants, the Kingdom Heirs, Gold City, the Kingsmen and others. If you’d like to write songs — or if you’re simply someone who loves good songs — this is a “can’t miss” hour!

Then, Paul devotes the second hour to highlights from the recent 2011 Singing News Fan Awards ceremonies at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. You’ll hear edited excerpts from the award announcements and acceptance speeches, coupled with recorded songs by the winners.
