Statesmen - 1960Bill Gaither on Stage

For the weeks of July 22nd and July 29thBill Gaither joins Daniel to bring you two full weeks’ worth of the history of the Statesmen Quartet and their tremendous impact on Gospel Music. Any fan of quartets will absolutely love hearing the songs of what many claim to be the greatest Gospel quartet, ever!

Bill Gaither, Statesmen Quartet historian, brings his own collection of Statesmen favorites to play. Plus, you’ll hear Bill share personal childhood stories of being star struck by these guys, how Elvis Presley took his hip-shaking training from the Statesmen’s charisma, and even why the Statesmen’s “Big Chief” Wetherington was considered the first Gospel Rapper.

Statesmen - States LPBooth Brothers - Greatest Hits LiveOn this first weekend in February, the Jubilee features the new and the old. Leading off, the Booth Brothers sing several of their biggest hits plus a couple of other favorites in a live performance recorded in Morristown, Tennessee in December of 2011.

Then, back to 1961 and a concert hall in Chicago, the legendary Statesmen Quartet in a performance titled Through the States. Along with Hovie Lister, the group consisted of Jake Hess, Doy Ott, Rosie Rozell and “Big Chief” Wetherington.
