Karen Peck & New River carries a definitive sound in Southern Gospel music, with wonderfully tight harmonies, a mix of traditional, bluegrass, and modern chords, and the bright tones of a two-female, one-male trio. On the edition of Daniel Britt & Friends for the week of June 17th, Daniel talks to Karen and Susan Peck plus their newest member: Jeff Hawes. You’ll hear the scoop of searching, auditioning, and hiring the next member of New River direct from a High School English teaching position.

KPNR - Georgia Mtn ChristmasMercy's Well - Bethlehem SkyAll of the music on the  program for the weekend of December 8th is Christmas music, with thoughts about this most blessed time of the year from many of your favorite Southern Gospel artists. This will be the second of Paul’s four all-Christmas music editions during December.

And, his Featured Artists on this program will be Mercy’s Well, with six songs from their brand new (literally just now releasing on December 11th) Christmas CD entitled “Bethlehem Sky.” Brad, Greg and Kyle will talk about the new songs they found for this recording and why they’re special. And they’ll share their goals during this Christmas season as they minister in concert.

Plus, Paul will have a Christmas Spotlight visit with Karen Peck & New River, including three songs from their “Georgia Mountain Christmas” CD. Included will be a song written by Karen’s and Susan’s mother. And Karen will tell you why another song they actually recorded last year for this CD actually became much more special to her this year.

Finally, he’ll also visit with Charlotte Ritchie (with songs from her brand new Christmas CD), Kim, Valerie and Heather, the Sisters (about a Christmas song they recorded this year) and Kellan Monroe (of Beyond The Ashes). You’ll also hear Bill Gaither‘s reaction to having his songs sung literally around the world.

Karen Peck and New River, Reach OutWe’ll visit with Karen Peck & New River as our Featured Artists on this program, with songs from their new Reach Out CD. You’ll find out why that album title is so appropriate. And you’ll hear why their current radio hit, On The Banks Of The Promised Land, was a last-minute addition to their recording. Jeff Hawes will explain why their song, Don’t Worry About The Waves, became such a personal one for him. And Karen will tell you about a new movie in which she’ll be appearing.

Paul also features a special “songwriter” segment with three songs written or co-written by Rodney Griffin. He’ll explain what inspired the songs, recorded by three different groups.

Other guests include Brian and Lauren Alvey, Debra and Roger (of the Talleys), Mark Trammell (Mark Trammell Quartet), and Mark Bishop.

Finally … Paul remembers the late Charles Burke.
