Blackwood Brothers
For the week of January 9th: Seventy-five years worth of music provides a wealth of repertoire and it’s from that treasury that the Blackwood Brothers Quartet gathers some of its most memorable highlights for the latest project offering. Daniel is joined by the two Blackwood brothers who are true brothers – Jimmy and Billy Blackwood – to listen to some of the tunes on this album and dish out the group’s desire to hold tightly to their heritage while winning new audiences with the same message and style of singing that worked some decades ago.
An hour that adds another chapter to Blackwood Brothers and Gospel music history . . . Jimmy and Billy Blackwood, on the next Daniel Britt & Friends.

On the weekend of October 15th… picking up where the Jubilee left off last week, with the performance from way back in 1961 … you listen to the Blackwood Brothers on a recording titled On Tour. The location was the historic Long Beach Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, California. Making up the group at this time were Cecil Blackwood, J.D. Sumner, Bill Shaw, James Blackwood, and Wally Varner.
The evening’s just beginning, as coming on the stage are the Freemans, ready to sing a full hour-plus concert. This performance comes from a two-CD re-issue titled simply Live2. It was recorded sometime in the 1990s, but we’re not sure of the original title or the year of recording, as published discography data and what’s contained on this recording do not agree. Regardless, get ready for a very enjoyable concert by Chris and all the Freemans.
On the weekend of October 8th, the Jubilee leads off with the much-acclaimed Wilburns performance which took place at the Civic Center in Bessemer, Alabama, on July 21st, 1990 … yes, it’s the one titled Alabama Lightning.
