Late in 2009 the Melody Boys Quartet celebrated their 60th anniversary in a grand performance at the Geyer Springs First Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. And, on this second weekend of October, you’ll hear the entire concert on the Jubilee.
Let us note that the Quartet will be retiring as of the end of this year, with their final performance a New Year’s Eve concert at the same church .
Then, the Jubilee has another piece of real Southern Gospel history for you … performances by the Blackwood Brothers Quartet as heard on WMPS Radio in Memphis during the 1950s – the exact year we’re not able to tell you.
These are from a CD that’s titled Memphis Golden Days, available at the Country Jamboree Breakfast Show in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, that’s hosted by the “R. W.” branch of the Blackwood family.
