On this Sunday-only edition of the Jubilee following NQC Week … spend an hour-and-a-quarter listening to the very best of the Happy Goodmans … LIVE . . . featuring Howard, Sam, Rusty, Vestal and Tanya … in a 1977 performance which took place in the Civic Center Coliseum in Huntsville, Alabama.
Artist Archive for Happy Goodmans
On this weekend of March 16th, it’s truly an historic evening on the Jubilee … as first you’re taken back to 1971 for the classic Wanted Live recorded performance by the Happy Goodmans … Howard, Sam, Rusty, Vestal and Bobby Goodman … which took place in the historic Keil Opera House in Saint Louis.
Then, you remain in the same decade for another performance from nearly 40 years ago … it’s 1976 and the location is Warner Robbins, Georgia, as you join the Inspirations in celebrating their 12th Anniversary. Included in the group are names you’ll still hear today: Martin Cook, Archie Watkins, Eddie Dietz, Mike Holcomb, Troy Burns, Jack Laws.
On the broadcast for the week of April 30th … Daniel offers a Southern Gospel music history lesson: It’s a broadcast documentary about the Happy Goodman Family! Daniel features a radio special produced in 1990 by Word Records to promote the final album from the Happy Goodman Family, “Reunion.” Listen to clips from that piece of history, plus conversation between Howard, Vestal, Rusty, and Sam.
Special guests include Dolly Parton and Bill Gaither. Even though originally produced as a promotional effort for the new album, this special serves as a good history lesson on the evolution of the Happy Goodman Family from its beginning through to the early 1990s.
Don’t miss this journey back in time with the Goodmans on the next Daniel Britt & Friends.
