Like most everyone, I confess that I have my “down” and negative moments but, fortunately, they seldom last long, as I generally look at life from the positive side . . . and I pray that you are able to do the same.
I know it’s difficult to do all the time, especially now when our nation seems to be headed in what many consider the “wrong direction” and there is so much turmoil, hate and anger filling so much of our world. But that’s not the focus of my thoughts here.
It’s important to my life and my attitude to spend time reading every day … maybe not always Christian literature, but some where the stories are meaningful and up-lifting, maybe bringing a smile to my mind or looks at the brighter side of life. And I find it beneficial to listen to at least a couple of Christian teaching broadcasts every week. In all of these, I keep a pen and paper handy to jot down a brief thought or Scripture reference that I feel I might want to share with someone else – because they are uplifting to me when I hear them and again when I share them with someone else. Such as:
“When God calls us, does He get a busy signal?”
“The starting point of a true relationship with God: TRUST!”
“Live your life so that our God ultimately gets the glory!”
“The marvelous richness of the human experience
would lose something of rewarding joy
if there were no limitations to overcome.
The hilltop hour would not be half so wonderful
if there were no dark valleys to traverse.”
Helen Keller (1880-1968)
And, finally, from the Old Testament book of Numbers Chapter Six:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them:
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.”’
