Southern Gospel-lovers from the Mid-Atlantic region and the Carolinas … if you weren’t able to make it to the NQC this year, perhaps you can make it over to Virginia Beach for a couple of days and be uplifted by some great Southern Gospel.
It’s been quite some time since we’ve been to Virginia Beach, so four of us planned to spend the first week of October there. Then, within a couple of days I read that Landon Beene was launching a brand-new three-day Festival at exactly the same time and just a mile down the road.
Of course, the line-up of artists and groups wouldn’t be anything other than stellar. You might call Thursday night Piano night, as on hand are Gordon Mote, the Collingsworths and Greater Vision + Taranda and the Down East Boys. Friday night is “dancin'” night, with Ernie and the Boys and Dennis Swanberg – not sure if Ivan, the Martins or Harvesters dance or not. Saturday features Guy Penrod, the Hoppers 11th Hour and BF&A.
Did I ever tell you that Guy Penrod was a backup singer on an album my wife Alicia recorded in Smyrna, Georgia, in the late 1980’s?

If you are anywhere near by, I do hope you can come over and be part of this new event at this great location. And, if you are there on Thursday night, please look for me. I expect to wear an enLighten blue T-shirt! This’ll be the first Southern Gospel concert I will have attended since retiring from managing enLighten a year ago.

Missing southern gospel sooo much. Living in the north it is hard to come by up here!
