As you’ve heard us sharing on the air, Tracy Stuffle of the Perrys and beloved husband of Libbi, suffered a stroke on Monday, January 21st … and was partially paralyzed and is unable to speak. As of this writing (Late Tuesday 1/29), he has not improved significantly but is in stable condition.
If you know anything about Libbi at all, you know she is a fighter, one of the most Godly persons on this earth, and a total believer in the power of prayer. She has been posting daily updates on the group’s Facebook page and, as you’ll read in this portion of her Sunday posting … she decided the time had come for action:
… somewhere out of the blue it hit me like lightening!! The devil has got to turn loose of Tracy’s body and turn loose from trying to defeat us in our minds! I put my foot down and declared war on the devil! We are warriors!! We have the greatest ammo on earth and it’s called prayer! I texted all of my family that “war was being declared on Satan!” I told them to suit up and let’s fight! I got permission from Tracy’s nurse to have all my family members who were at the hospital to come into his room and have an old fashioned ‘come to Jesus prayer meeting!’ I told them what things we were gonna pray about and told them if anyone in that room had any doubts to leave the room. No one left! I can’t tell you everything that happened, but God was in the room!!
James 5 . . .
As you know from the Scriptures, what Libbi did was what we’d called a “James 5” action … as stated by James, the Disciple, in Chapter Five of his open letter to all in the twelve tribes, beginning in Verse 13:
Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.
Yet, Faith . . .
While prayer is a central tenet of the Christian faith, as Libbi knows well and has … and this great Gospel song written by Samuel T. Scott and Robert L. Sands clearly states … you gotta have the belief and faith that the Lord will answer whatever request that your prayer contains:
Prayer is the key to Heaven
But faith unlocks the door
Words are so easily spoken
Prayer without faith is like a boat without an oar
Have faith when you speak to the master
That’s all he’ll ask you for
Prayer is the key to Heaven
But faith unlocks the doorHave you ever prayed for something big or small?
How long did you have to wait or did the answer come at all
Words are mere expression of thought
And nothing more
Believing is what really counts
And faith is what unlocks the doorHave faith when you speak to the Master
That’s all He ask you for
Prayer is the key to Heaven
But faith unlocks the door!
