Thought # 1 . . .

Nativity StarHere’s the first of the three thoughts that were recently placed on my heart that I have already or will share on the air:

No matter who you are or where you are … you can make a difference.

At this time of year, as you may well have encountered or experienced … loneliness and depression are more prevalent than at any other time of the year.

In spite of the hustle and bustle of the season … we as Christians should and need to be on the alert for where and how we can make a difference in someone’s life!

It may be as simple as . . .

  • A smile
  • A listening ear
  • A word of comfort or encouragement
  • Or possibly a helping hand

And, you just never know where this effort might lead or how you’ll be blessed in return!

Thought # 2 . . .

Sundown on Tuesday, December 20th … marks the beginning of the eight days of Hanukkah in this year of 2011. It’s an historical holiday period, when modern Jewish families celebrate a victory that occurred in the year of 165 B. C. A celebration, because Greek control of Palestine ended and Judas the Maccabee re-claimed the temple in Jerusalem.

Tradition says that he lit a lamp with oil only sufficient for one day … yet the lamp remained aglow for eight. Now … during the eight days of Hanukkah, one candle of the menorah is lit each night in commemoration of that event.

It’s a family holiday, celebrated in the home with traditional songs, gifts and traditional foods to eat … such as oranges and potato pancakes.

As our Jewish brethren and families celebrate Hanukkah, their “Festival of Lights,” join us in wishing each and every one a joyous and inspiring time of celebration.

Just think . . . it was only 165 years after this that God sent a little Jewish baby who would become our Messiah, who’s birth we are about to celebrate!

Thought #3 . . .

Chickadee

If you’ve never read the message titled Eden in Winter, which we first posted on this website in 2008 … I invite you to take a few minutes and read it now. It brings a very different view to how we look at Christmas in this world of today.
