Gospel Greats Top 20 CountdownOn the weekend of August 31st, it’s Paul’s official monthly Singing News Top 20 Countdown Edition, based on the chart of favorites appearing in the magazine’s September issue. The Singing News chart is developed by polling radio stations across North America that play Southern Gospel music to determine local favorites, based on airplay. Those separate charts are then combined to determine favorites across the land.

And, during the countdown, Paul will be chatting briefly with Michael Booth (Booth Brothers), Mark Trammell (Mark Trammell Quartet), Daryl Williams (songwriter), Marty Funderburk (songwriter), Dianne Wilkinson (songwriter), Gary Casto and Josh Singletary (Tribute Quartet), Jason Crabb, Ernie Haase (Ernie Haase & Signature Sound), Aaron Hise and Jeff Whisnant (Whisnants), Brian Free (Brian Free & Assurance), Geneva Myers (Stubborn Love), more.

Finally … on the Headline Update, listen for information about how you could sing a song on stage with top artists at a major upcoming concert event.

Squire Parsons - You're Still Lord of AllOne of Southern Gospel music’s most respected singer/songwriters, Squire Parsons, will be Paul’s Featured Artist on the broadcast for the weekend of August 17th, featuring songs from his current You’re Still Lord Of All CD. Squire will tell you why the Word of God has become ever more special to him over the years, why a song of his wound up with a totally different tune than he first planned, and more. Squire will also answer questions many people have about his health.

And, Paul visits with Brenda Robinson of New Desire. She’ll tell you about her long-time group, about how her significant health issues of past years were resolved by God, and how her testimony is providing healing in lives today. You’ll also find out how you can hear in much more detail about New Desire’s ministry.

Finally, you’ll also hear from Greg Gainer (Mercy’s Well) and Robbie Maxwell (New Ground).

Freedom - Born CDBrowns, Hymns 2Paul’s Featured Artists on the weekend of August 10th is the trio known as Freedom — Josh Garner, John Rulapaugh and Jonathan Sawrie. Songs will be from an outstanding new recording called “Born With A Song.” They call it that because these songs are remakes of songs that were big Southern Gospel hits back when Josh and John were born — in the late 1970s. If you were around back then (and even if you weren’t), you’ll thoroughly enjoy these songs and the attention Freedom gave to making the songs sound pretty much as they did back then.

And, his Artist Spotlight guests will be the Browns with songs from a new CD of theirs called “Heritage Hymn Collection, Volume 2.” You’ll hear three songs from their CD, including a hymn they had recorded years ago when the family sounded (in Shelly Brown‘s words) “like a children’s choir.” It sure doesn’t anymore!

Finally, in Paul’s weekly Headline Update, he’ll be remembering Jeff Davis and tell you about a reunion tour for the DMB Band.

Greenes - Sweet FreedomOn the weekend of August 3rd … Paul’s Featured Artists will be the GreenesTim Greene, Keith Skiles and Scott Mullins. Find out why Tim decided to bring this legendary group back as a male trio. You’ll hear songs from their new CD called Sweet Freedom, including several new songs Tim wrote. You’ll also get to meet Keith and Scott as the newer members of this group. And you’ll hear a song Tim wrote with his late brother, Tony, in mind.

The QuicksThen, he’ll have an Artist Spotlight visit with the Quicks — Tim & Sally Quick and their daughter, Rebecca Greer. They’ll have songs from their new “Midnight To Morning” CD, including their new radio single, “God Can’t Help It.” Sally will explain why she went through quite a lengthy dry spell in songwriting — and why she’s back now.

Plus, Paul will announce the winner in our recent National Quartet Convention giveaway; Ernie Haase will have some breaking news about multiple videos they’ll be recording later this month; and Bryan Walker of the Perrys will explain why he will never forget this month as long as he lives.

Finally … Sunday of this coming weekend, August 4th, will be one of our occasional Listener Favorite Call-In opportunities (noon to 6 p.m. Eastern time). This is your chance to call in and record a brief introduction to your current favorite Southern Gospel song. If we use it on the air sometime during the next few months, you’ll win a valuable gift certificate from Springside.com. Click here for complete information and please plan to call
