The Nelons, 2012

For the week of February 11th: They have a legacy that spans decades, a history deeply rooted in Southern Gospel that can be traced clear back to the early 1900s, yet a dynamic, fresh, and always innovative sound that keeps fans on the edge of their seat waiting to hear the next chapter … yes, we’re talking about the Nelons!

This week, it’s the second of this three-part series presented documentary-style approach, years in the making. Daniel is joined by Kelly Nelon, her husband Jason and her daughter Amber to talk about the history of the namesake with her father, Rex Nelon, and the legacy he left. In addition to the memories and music of the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, by the time Part Three is reached, you’ll have arrived in the modern era of the Nelons that features their signature harmonies with a clean, fresh, simple-acoustic approach that’s found on their latest album, Come on Home.

You certainly don’t want to miss a moment of these three installments of Daniel Britt & Friends! However, should you miss one or more of them, they are available On Demand from Sirius XM’s OnLine Internet Service.

WoodyWrightTurnFromDarknessHis career is rooted deep in music, songwriting, and producing! Daniel’s subject for the week of January 21st is Woody Wright . . . who developed a new audience for himself in 1998 after he let out his first note (nearly a cappella) at the Georgia Dome during his first appearance at a Gaither Homecoming concert. Now, his unique, rich, country sound is heard on solo projects and as the “Wright” of Ponder, Sykes, & Wright. Daniel recently had the opportunity to sit with Woody, talking history, songwriting, and the stories behind his songs on the project, Turn from the Darkness.

It’s the “Wright” place for all things Woody Wright on this Daniel Britt & Friends!

J. D. SumnerFor the week of January 14th … it’s Part Two of the Tribute to the one-and-only J.D. Sumner . . . who was a pioneering innovator for the music industry, known for his extreme low vocal range, and to his friends as a funny, kind, and generous man. Joining Daniel in this tribute special are four Gospel artists who knew him … Mark Lowry, Michael Sykes, Gene McDonald, and George Hairr.

You’ll not want to miss the funny and profound stories as told by these guys who spent time with J. D. in the studio and around a game of chess – and the music – on this next edition of Daniel Britt & Friends!
