Clearly . . . May 29, 2014

There’s a pop hit song from the 1970’s titled “I can see clearly now.” At the moment, I cannot remember any of the rest of the lyrics, but that title – or something similar to it – came before my eyes this morning and reminded me of the song, of which I can hear the melody in my head.

 Regardless, when I got to thinking about that phrase . . . what came to mind is that our vision is clearest when I am looking up … because, as written in Psalm 27:1 . . .

 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?

 As things continue to change in my life and I am looking in different directions, many times with different eyes … I have finally realized that this is the one verse in all of Scripture that’s most meaningful to me, the one and only one that I really need to cling to, to remember and heed in my daily walk.

 To keep looking upward and keeping my eyes focused on Him and be guided by His “instruction manual.”
