Messages from our listeners December 1, 2007

We listen EVERY day!! We are so grateful for your Station and the GREAT music you play. We pray that God blesses ALL of you for the wonderful job you are doing to get God’s message out to ALL the lost sheep in this old sinful world. And, to us saved souls who need to be reminded from time to time that what we do makes a difference. … Paul, Dover, Delaware

I just wanted to email and let ya’ll know what a WONDERFUL STATION ya’ll have!!! I am sooo thankful. I’m from Louisiana, and I LOVE Southern Gospel music, and up this way in New York, they don’t hardly know what it is. When I found your station on DirecTV, Oh my LORD…I was sooo thrilled!!! … Bonnie, New York

I was scanning through the XM channels, discovered enLighten34 … lingered for a while and was rewarded with the song “I’m Taking a Ride.” My friends all kid me because I’ve been telling them for years that when we’re born, God gives us a bus ticket that entitles us to a certain number of rides, and the last ride takes us Home to our Savior. Since a funeral is sadness followed by joy, “I’m Taking a Ride” will be the perfect song for my funeral, when He determines the time is right.  It’s a guaranteed mood lifter for those attending. … Jane, Morris Plains, New Jersey

Marlin comments …

First off, we’ve grouped these last three messages together because they have one thing in common … all three writers live in the northeastern corner of the U. S. This is not a section of North America where you typically expect to find many who will be listening to southern Gospel music. We are certainly pleased to have each one of them, just as we are pleased to have every one of the many thousands which we count as regular listeners to enLighten… regardless of whether you are tuned in via XM satellite radio, DirecTV, XM Radio OnLine or AOL Radio.

Next, I want to note that I’m Taking A Ride is a recording by the Brothers Redeemed, who are a quartet from Louisiana. These gentlemen would be described as a “regional group,” as they typically do their singing within a radius of a couple of hundred miles from their home base. They represent one of several groups which fall into this category that we’ve just begun playing within the past 60 days. This is not to say that we had a restriction on playing them previously … we simply don’t have the time needed to review near all of the CDs which arrive in our mailbox, of which it’s a steady flow. Many of the new recordings you are hearing were reviewed by Dan Dixon and yours truly as we spent 18 hours on the road traveling to and from the National Quartet Convention in Spetember.

Then, Jon wrote, asking about the song telling the story of “brother LeRoy”:

I am trying to find the name of a comical song you have played frequently. It is about a man who doesn’t like all the songs being projected on a screen on the wall at church. Every time you play it, I get a big smile on my face. Our church is having that battle right now and I would love to get a hold of that song. … Jon

Marlin:

As far as listener inquiries go, the recording Jon is looking for has to be one of the top five most-asked-about songs we’ve ever played. It’s called the Wall Song by Tim and Mary Alice Lovelace. I’m not sure whether the interest comes because it’s good for a laugh or two … or that several of you are in a church experiencing the same situation and/or debate which Jon’s church is attempting to deal with at present.

Whether it’s one line to let us know you are “out there,” or you have an interesting or miraculous story to share of how the Lord has worked in your life or in that of someone close to you, we love receiving and reading – and listening to – your messages. Then, every now and again, one comes along which really touches us deeply. For instance … a lady with sadness in her voice recently took time to leave this message on our Listener Comment Line: “I lost my son a month ago, and I really believe (enLighten34) and its music is helping me handle the situation.”

Every one of us has at least some reason to thank the Lord. Perhaps it’s time to do as that song says, “Count your blessings, name them one by one … count your many blessings, see what God has done.” If you have been blessed by something you’ve heard on enLighten34, then we are mightily blessed.

Let us shout Hallelujah and praise His name!
